Taiko Deploys Katla Alpha 6 Testnet

Taiko, an EVM-equivalent ZK-Rollup, deployed its sixth Alpha public testnet coined Katla. The testnet introduces support for a configurable multi-proof rollup design called the Based Contestable Rollup (BCR). Katla uses the Holesky testnet as its root chain and features EIP-4844 support, which will be enabled at a later date. Developers can use the testnet to deploy smart contracts for their dapp using existing Ethereum tooling. Developers can also run a L2 proposer or prover. Users can use the testnet to make transfers, bridge tokens, and now bridge NFTs. Taiko is building a Type 1 ZK-EVM, which prioritizes full EVM-equivalence over ZK-proof generation speed.

Renzo Raises $3.2 Million Seed

Renzo, an Ethereum Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) protocol integrated with EigenLayer, raised a $3.2 million seed round led by Maven 11 Capital. Officially launched to Beta Mainnet on December 18, 2023, Renzo allows users to deposit ETH, which is nativley restaked on EigenLayer, a concept akin to EtherFi. Renzo plans to expand support for various other LSTs. Depositors recieve a liquid restaking token called ezETH. Renzo is also incentivizing its stakers with a Renzo points system. Renzo aims to simplify EigenLayer AVS and rewards management decisions for users. The protocol currently holds $36 million in ETH deposits.

zkSync Era Remix Plugin

Matter Labs, in collaboration with Nethermind, launched the zkSync Era Remix Plugin, designed to optimize zkSync smart contract development using Remix. The tool enables developers to effortlessly switch between various zksolc compiler versions and streamlines the compilation process by integrating an isolated Hardhat environment. The plugin provides developers with diverse deployment options, including a remote devnet, a local devnet, a wallet, or a manual account. Currently in its alpha version, the zkSync Era Remix Plugin supports direct interactions with contracts, transaction histories, and queries.

Arbitrum Surpasses 500 Million Transactions

Arbitrum One, the top L2 rollup by TVL, has now processed over 500 million cumulative transactions. The optimistic rollup, which was launched to mainnet on August 31, 2021, now holds 1.4 million ETH in deposits. According to data fom L2Beat, Arbitrum One's TVL is $11 billion. Optimism, ranking as the second-largest rollup by TVL, holds 316,000 ETH in deposits.
