Optimism Introduces Season 4 Governance
Optimism published a guide for its 4th season of governance. Season 4 governance introduces Collective Intents, which are directional goals designed to guide decision-making toward common objectives. Season 4 features three collective intents, including two proposed by Optimism and a third to be proposed by delegates. The first collective intent focuses on progressing toward technical decentralization. The second intent focuses on innovating novel applications. Season 4 also features missions, which are proposals for specific work to help achieve an Intent. Anyone can submit a proposed mission to be approved by the Token House.
Teams can also apply to take on a mission set by the Foundation. Missions will be completed by groups of contributors, coined Alliances, that will temporarily work together. Season 4 also introduces Collective Trust Tiers, a reputation system that provides users with positive impact access to work, grants, and roles within the Collective. Collective Trust Tiers will also use attestations, allowing reputation to be accumulated on-chain. Lastly, Season 4 will allocate retroactive rewards to delegates that participated in Season 3 governance and hold voting power greater than 0.25%. Gitcoin, ENS, and CabinDAO will also be nominated for RetroPFG 3. Optimism season 4 of governance is set to go live on June 1st.
BlockSec Introduces Private Testnet Toolkit
BlockSec introduced Phalcon Fork, a toolkit for creating private testnets forked from mainnet. Developers can use the toolkit to replicate the state of Ethereum mainnet at arbitrary positions, such as a specific block height. Private testnets can be accessed through the Fork RPC. Phalcon Fork features its own faucet for obtaining testnet ether. The release also includes the Phalcon Explorer, an explorer designed to help developers analyze and debug testnet transactions. Phalcon Fork competes with testnets such as Goerli and is compatible with existing tools such as Hardhat, Foundry, and Remix. Phalcon Fork is free to use up to a limited amount of monthly requests.
Push Protocol Launches Push Video
Push Protocol launched support for wallet-to-wallet video chat. Users can now connect their wallet to the push protocol dapp to send and accept video chat requests. Push Protocol also plans to release a developer SDK for Push Video. The SDK will allow developers to integrate wallet-to-wallet video chat directly into their dapps. Push Protocol uses PGP keys locally on each user client to encrypt and decrypt data. The protocol plans to enable Twitter space-like features in a future release. Formerly known as EPNS, Push Protocol is a wallet-to-wallet messaging protocol available on Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain.
Biconomy Account Abstraction SDK
Relayer infrastructure network provider Biconomy released its Account Abstraction SDK on Ethereum mainnet. Developers can use the SDK to integrate gasless experiences and deploy ERC-4337-compliant smart contract accounts. Account abstraction refers to using contract functionality to improve UX on user accounts. The SDK includes a Gasless API, which allows dapps to sponsor gas fees on behalf of users, a Meta Transaction API, which enables transaction bundling, and a Cross-Chain API, which supports cross-chain transfers. Biconomy’s AA SDK is also available for Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and BNB Chain with planned support for Optimism, Arbitrum, and zkSync - among other networks.
EIP-4788 Considered For Cancun Upgrade
Ethereum core developers discussed the next EIPs considered for Ethereum’s next upgrade known as Cancun. Only EIP-4844, which reduces data costs for rollups, is confirmed to be included in the next upgrade. EIP-4788, a proposal that seeks to provide trustless access to the consensus state inside the EVM, has transitioned into a draft phase and is among the EIPs in consideration for Cancun.
