Meta NFT Support On Instagram and Facebook

Meta expanded the rollout of NFTs on Facebook and Instagram to all users. The integration supports wallet connection through Coinbase Wallet, Dapper, MetaMask, Rainbow, and Trust Wallet. Once a wallet is connected, users are able to view and post NFTs that they own to their timeline. The feature supports NFTs on Ethereum, Polygon, or Flow.

Published NFTs display a verified digital collectible checkmark, the name of the NFT, the description, and a tag to the creator. The feature also displays the blockchain an NFT was minted on. Meta first revealed plans for an NFT integration back in May. The company is working on supporting NFTs as AR stickers within Instagram Stories.

Art Blocks Launches Art Blocks Engine

Art Blocks announced the launch of Art Blocks Engine, a custom-branded generative NFT minting solution for creative coders. Formerly known as Powered by Art Blocks, the product allows artists to upload their project script on-chain, which is used by collectors to mint a generative NFT. Collectors are unaware of what a piece will look like before it is minted.

The solution can also be integrated into third-party sites. Art Blocks also announced Art Blocks Flex, an additional product that allows a generative system to reference off-chain assets. This allows creatives to use images, audio, and videos without paying for on-chain storage. According to Art Blocks, Engine users have full ownership over their smart contracts.

Rocket Pool Upgrades To Redstone

Rocket Pool successfully underwent its upgrade to Redstone, an improved version of the protocol. The upgrade includes merge compatibility, removes the 24-hour time lock on newly minted rETH, and allows node operators to accumulate RPL inflation rewards. The changes result in gas savings as fewer transactions are required.

One of the most significant improvements is the introduction of a smoothing pool, an opt-in feature that balancers returns for all nodes in the pool. All priority fees collected by the pool are distributed fairly between all members. Rocket Rool node operators are required to update to Smart Node v1.6.0 ahead of the Bellatrix upgrade on September 6th.

GoDaddy Reverts Decision To Renew ETH.LINK

GoDaddy has reverted its decision to allow easyDNS CEO Mark Jeftovic to renew the eth.link domain on behalf of Virgil Griffith, the current registrant. Virgil Griffith is currently unable to renew the domain as he is serving a 63-month sentence for presenting at a blockchain conference in North Korea.

easyDNS CEO Mark Jeftovic was able to secure the domain last month. However, GoDaddy later issued a statement about its decision to continue the expiry lifecycle and return the domain to the DNS registry on September 5th. ENS warns eth.link users to urgently redirect all traffic to eth.limo as there is a possibility that a bad actor may register the domain.

Specular Reveals EVM-Native Optimistic Rollup

Specular, a new L2 network, unveiled its EVM-native Optimistic Rollup. With Specular, fraud proofs are generated and verified on the EVM directly, whereas other optimistic rollups compile down into a lower-level VM. Specular claims to offer a minimal trusted computing base, client diversity, and efficient dispute resolution. The network is currently live on testnet.
